Creality has become a leading 3D printer brand in Europe and America
In today’s globalization landscape, China is no longer a passive recipient. More enterprises began to go abroad and participate in going abroad by exporting goods, services, capital or providing support for overseas enterprises. Some are starting to ask: is going overseas the destiny of this generation of companies? Is going to sea a good business? These questions seem to be too grand, but overseas enterprises have been using their own practices to unravel the problems and answer them. Yiou has recently launched a special topic called “People who go to sea”, inviting you to read the answers of people who go to sea.
How do you get a Lamborghini for 130,000?
A piece of foreign news ignited the enthusiasm of many young car lovers in China. Owning a Lamborghini must be the dream of many people, but for this level of super car, the price is really expensive. Sterling Backus, an American physicist, had the same dream, but he did it in his own way. Backus and his son used 3D printing to create the world’s cheapest Lamborghini supercar for just 130,000 yuan.
The 3D printer they used came from Shenzhen, China, across the ocean.
Although the prototype of 3D printing technology has appeared in the 19th century, it has not been popularized for a long time. However, as a representative of “Internet + advanced manufacturing”, the technology has been widely used in industrial, educational and personal fields. In recent years, a number of 3D printing equipment r&d and manufacturers with both strength and market recognition have been born in China.
Creative 3d Technology Co., Ltd. is one of them.

Edge gather shenzhen, sail out to sea
The story of the creation of three – dimensional, but also from the four founding people gathered in Shenzhen.
Chen Chun, co-founder and general manager of Creation3d, told Yiou that he went to Shenzhen after graduation and has been working on 3D printer technology.
Chen met Liu Huilin, Tang Jingke and Ao Danjun at an industry exhibition related to 3D printing. As it happens. The four strangers were all born in 1989. After exchanging their views on the 3D printing industry, the four met each other very soon. Immediately, the four hit it off and had their own strengths in research and development, supply chain, marketing and operations. In 2014, the four co-founded Creative 3d.
At that time, although 3D printing technology was still in its infancy, the global 3D printer market was rapidly rising. According to Wohlers, the global 3D printing market was about $4 billion in 2013, almost double that of 2012. Of that, the U.S. market is about $1.5 billion, Europe about $1 billion, and China about $300 million.
Although China has a small market share, it is enthusiastic about the development of 3D printing industry. In terms of industry and scientific research, China 3D Printing Technology Industry Alliance was established at the end of 2012, which is the first 3D printing industry alliance in the world. In terms of policy, the National Additive Manufacturing Development Promotion Plan (2014-2020) was issued in 2014. The document states that by 2017, an additive manufacturing (3D printing) technology innovation system will be initially established, and 5-10 additive manufacturing enterprises with an annual output value of more than 500 million yuan will be developed with strong r&d and application capabilities.
But on the other hand, compared with foreign countries, China’s 3D printers still have a certain gap. First of all, 3D printers in China have a late start and are not as mature as those in Europe and the United States in terms of technology. Although China can achieve varying degrees of self-sufficiency in equipment, materials and software, laser and other core technologies are still heavily dependent on imports.
Secondly, in terms of industry, the application of 3D printers in China was still in the stage of scientific research at that time, and was not widely promoted in the industrial and personal consumption fields. The annual sales revenue of 3D printer enterprises in Europe and the United States is generally about 1 billion yuan, while few domestic enterprises can exceed 50 million yuan, which reflects the situation of the 3D printer market in addition to the domestic market.
Creative 3D was founded under such a background: from a global perspective, the 3D printer market is thriving, the domestic market also has unlimited potential, but the 3D printer technology and large-scale application in China is still in its infancy, the European and American markets are relatively mature, the demand is also greater.
According to a random survey of 1,000 US consumers conducted by OnePoll in 2014, a third of those surveyed considered buying a 3D printer, and of those, 65 percent wanted to use a 3D printer to create or print something for their home.
Seeing the vast overseas market, Chen chun and his co-founders decided to develop foreign markets first, and consumer 3D printing markets abroad.
Eighty percent of the products are sold overseas, creating a THREE-DIMENSIONAL winning “secret”
According to yiou, 80% of all products sold by Creation3d are sold to Europe and the United States and other overseas markets.
Its success in the European and American markets is related to the high cost performance of Its 3D products on the one hand and the huge demand for 3D printers abroad, especially in the European and American markets on the other hand.
According to introduction, Creative 3D products mainly focus on consumer and industrial 3D printers, divided into FDM and photocuring two series, a total of more than 20 fully independent intellectual property rights 3D printers, have passed CE, FCC, ROHS and other international main quality and environmental protection certification, can fully meet the needs of different fields, regions. During the interview, Chen Chun also showed several representative products of Creative 3d to Yiou.
In 2015, Creative 3D created a popular product — CR-7 compact portable 3D printer, which was gradually recognized by the public. Since then, the cr-8 multi-functional 3D printer in 2016, the CR-10 large-size kit 3D printer in 2017, and the CR-X and Ende-3 in 2018, Every year, Creative 3D has new products launched.

These products have one thing in common, the use of the first domestic patented linear bearing system. Different from other 3D printer motion systems, this structure has the characteristics of stable motion, firm and reliable structure and accurate positioning. Therefore, these products all have the characteristics of low price, high precision, easy assembly and convenient transportation, which are favored by individual maker fans.
At present, Creative 3D 3D printer products mainly use two kinds of technology. CR series models mainly adopt FDM technology, which is the main technology used in consumer 3D printer products on the market. It has the characteristics of safe system operation, low maintenance cost, high utilization rate of raw materials and long material life, and its printing materials are relatively easy to obtain.
Another type of light curing model is the use of DLP technology, this technology is mainly the image after digital processing, and then the light projection, is based on digital micro mirror components to complete the visual digital information display technology, more suitable for the accuracy of products.
In 2018, 3DHubs, a well-known community platform for the global 3D printing industry, released a 3D printing Trend report for the second quarter of 2018. With its excellent performance, sales volume and reputation, Creationa 3D CR-10 stands out among many products around the world and ranks in the ratings and printing volume of desktop 3D printers. Become the leader of the mainstream desktop in the world.
In addition to excellent products, Chen Chun said to Yiou: “I have to say that foreign 3D printing due to the early development of the time, compared with the domestic level of acceptance will be much higher. Many foreign consumers who buy Creative 3D products still have strong hands-on ability. It is common to make a model or print an accessory for household items. And there are relatively few after-sales problems.”
In addition, Chen chun also stressed that because the basic manufacturing industry in China is relatively developed, and the development level of e-commerce and logistics is very high, domestic people in the process of production and life, if there is a shortage of parts and components, direct online shopping can solve the problem. However, foreign markets, especially European and American markets, still lack in this aspect. In particular, basic manufactured products with low cost, such as doorknobs, drawer handles and other furniture accessories, are very expensive in foreign countries, and 3D printers at home can solve this problem.
From going to sea to returning to China, he insists on being a preacher of 3D printing industry
At present, Creation3d has long been in the forefront of global 3D printer sales. After success in foreign countries, Creative 3D was not satisfied with this, but often with a “pure heart” to return to China as a “preacher”, to let 3D printing into millions of Chinese households.
At present, the 3D printing industry in China has a very strong momentum of development, but most of them are still applied in aerospace, biological health and other advanced industries, and the application scenarios of civil 3D printers are very limited. Chen hopes to apply creative 3D mature 3D printing technology to consumer scenes.
The development of Creation3d in the domestic market has chosen a different route from foreign countries, mainly landing in education, families and enterprises in China. This is due to different consumption levels and cultural systems. DIY makers abroad prefer 3D printers, which are good at various creations.
It is understood that at present, Creative 3D education 3D printer has reached cooperation with many domestic universities and primary and secondary schools, become the preferred brand of teaching AIDS, and established an industry-university-research teaching practice base with many universities. At the end of 2017, Ji Guoliang, an expert in maker education, joined Creation3d as a RESEARCH and development consultant to build the product and curriculum system.
In addition to education and family scenes, helping traditional manufacturing industries reduce costs and increase efficiency is also one of The goals of Creation3d. With the current material source costs rising further, and the premise of highly transparent industry profits, many enterprises need to constantly reduce costs to maintain the survival of enterprises. Chen chun said that 3D printing can undoubtedly help enterprises reduce costs and improve efficiency.
Take the mold manufacturing industry as an example, as the main manufacturing process in the world today, the mold industry is the main manufacturing technology in the past ten years. However, in the past, mold production needed to go through the process from mold opening, to repeated mold modification and finally to confirm the production, which took a lot of time. Not to mention, if the mold project failed, the time and money spent before were wasted.
But now the birth and popularity of 3D printers, mold manufacturing industry has brought innovation. Because trial production samples can be obtained and confirmed in advance through 3D printing, the process of repeated modification after mold opening is reduced. In addition, 3D printing can also achieve small batch production of industrial parts, which is more flexible.
According to the 3D Printing Industry Market Outlook and Investment Research Report 2019, the size of China’s 3D printing market reached 2.36 billion yuan in 2018, up nearly 42% year on year. With the corresponding maturity of 3D printing technology in China, the demand will continue to increase. It is estimated that the market size of 3D printing in China will be nearly 3 billion yuan in 2019.
On the whole, China’s 3D printer market still has huge space for development, especially the consumer market, which is currently in the stage of rapid growth. With the continuous promotion and popularization of 3D printer technology in China, 3D printer technology in China has developed very fast in recent years, from makers’ popular science education to the actual additive manufacturing center, from campus and laboratory to military aerospace technology.
“Compared with the US, China may have to wait two to three years, but China’s 3D printing industry is not inferior to that of other countries, and the consumer 3D printer market is also developing rapidly in China. I believe the domestic market will soon see explosive growth,” Chen said.
